Getting ahead!

Updated: Sep 14, 2018

This is part of the mould that I made at the foundry into which they will pour the steel for the half heads. The brown stuff is a special sand which is really loose and aerated so it can get into nooks and crannies,. It has a chemical in it which sets it very hard in about 10 minutes.

Here are the poured semi heads

Molten steel is poured into the finished mould, which then cools. It is reheated in an oven and cooled again. The casting process is an ancient method which has shaped and influenced the entire course of human history

The next step is to weld the two halves together to make the head.

Everything is coming together, there is still a lot of work to do, the deadline is on the horizon, so I need to crack into it.
